Back in the day the boozehound W.C. Fields, in one of his movies remarked that it was time to take the bull by the tail and face the situation. That is always sound if unpleasant advice. As has been said by friends of Bill in recovery circles, the truth will set you free but first it will make you miserable. I have certainly found that to be true.
Most immediately for my own situation, the Ravishing Wife is returning next week. This is great news for me, except for the fact that I’ve been batching it for six months and I have a lot of cleanup to do. I confess that I am on the brink of feeling the panic that will energize me to tackle some of the housekeeping I’ve let slide. I was not gifted by God with the neat gene.
I have started what I will call a ministry, you guys have seen some of the fruit of that on these pages. I have little hope that the world, and in particular the United States, will be spared the ravages of demonic Marxism on the one hand or demonic Islam on the other. There is a burgeoning Christian revival taking place in our land, for which I thank God most heartily. The forces driving us on the paths of destruction have achieved great momentum which only God can check. Will it be enough? That depends on us.
A lot of this is the bitter fruit of our wholesale turning away from God and the truth of the Gospel. I bitterly resent the way in which Jesus Christ, His Truth and His Way have been not only abandoned but deliberately shoved out of the public square, and very often, by the very churches that profess His Name. Doctrines alien to both God and rational men have been advanced unchecked; the people doing this are children playing with matches and God will requite them.
So I have stood up Make America Godly Again, the other MAGA, selling simple tee shirts whose message resonates with the Gospel, which people of good will can wear to witness to Him, and so provoke deeper discussion through which the Good News of the Gospel can be shared. I have begun to sell these on the street corners and, with permission, in local churches. Your prayers are greatly desired.
All of this is quite independent of politics. “Put not your trust in horses (in ancient times an animal of war) or in mortal man in whom there is no hope.” (see Psalm 20:7 and 146:3) Unless the nation returns to God wholeheartedly we will be overtaken by disaster. I work to avert that, and to lay a foundation for what follows after. Followers of Christ have seen civilizations fall before now, and built new civilizations on their ashes. See Luke 23:27-31
