Eggs Do Not Raise Cholesterol

From The Daily Mail via Vox Day:

I ate 700 eggs in a month as an experiment – what happened to my health went against everything I’d been told

They’re regarded by many gym goers and health gurus as a super-food.

Yet ask a doctor about eggs, and they might tell you they raise your cholesterol levels and cause heart problems.

Eggs have been demonized for decades because their yolks are high in cholesterol, the fatty substance that builds up and damages blood vessels supplying the heart.

But research in recent years has shown this has little direct direct impact on the amount of the substance that accumulates.

So to get to the bottom of whether eggs are bad or not, one man ate 720 of them in a month to see to see what happens to cholesterol levels.

Go ahead and read the whole thing.  I read The Protein Diet (or something like that) thirty years ago, and more or less lived by it since, so it is no surprise to me.  Yeah, go ahead and eat those eggs, with bacon, it won’t hurt you.  Eating this way might be more expensive in the short run, but you won’t have to contend with type 2 diabetes.

When the Ravishing Wife turned up with diabetes a few years ago (more than a few, truth be told) I threw away the pills and forced her to cut bread, cake, pasta, rice, ice cream, potatoes and potato chips (how could something she loved so much betray her so!?) and carbs of all kinds from her diet.  The doctor who had prescribed the anti diabetes medications just about fell out of his chair, had her re-run the labs to verify they were right: she was no longer diabetic.  The last time we saw him he still thought that the RW was some kind of medical anomaly, and refused to believe that the change in the lab results was the result of a change in her diet.

Go ahead, trust “The Science TM”.  Its your funeral.  But its worse than your funeral.  None of us are going to get out of here alive, after all.  What is worse is the years of slowly destroying your body while being told by The Experts TM” that you are being helped to sustain it.

I will resist the temptation to fly into a rage, anger is a sin.  I will resist the temptation to fly into a rage, anger is a sin.  I will resist

Whew!  That was close.

Guys, the Good Book says “examine everything and hold to the good.”  That’s not just for points of Christian doctrine.  “By their fruits you will know them.”  Ditto.

The Ravishing Wife and I continue to pray for you and wish you well.  You, and your welfare, are never far from my mind and heart.

  1. When my A1C went up 8 years ago my doctor told me to cut out carbs period. 20g per day max. He said the American Diabetes Association got it so wrong for so long that they are embarrassed to make such an about face so they have not radically changed their recommendations. This is spot on.
