This whole Brouhaha with the payment system came about because the FDA tested UMOVY and found “Umovy may be harmful due to hidden drug ingredients“.
The Food and Drug Administration is advising consumers not to purchase or use Umovy, a product promoted and sold for joint pain on various websites, including www.umovy-usa.com, and possibly in some retail stores.
FDA laboratory analysis confirmed that Umovy contains dexamethasone and diclofenac not listed on the product label.
Dexamethasone is a corticosteroid commonly used to treat inflammatory conditions. Corticosteroid use can impair a person’s ability to fight infections and can cause high blood sugar levels, muscle injuries and psychiatric problems. When corticosteroids are taken for a prolonged period, or at high doses, they can suppress the adrenal gland. Abrupt discontinuation can cause withdrawal symptoms. In addition, the undeclared dexamethasone in Umovy may cause serious side effects when combined with other medications.
Consumers taking Umovy should immediately consult with their health care professional to safely discontinue use of this product. The risks of withdrawal from corticosteroids should be assessed by a health care professional. Only licensed health care professionals can evaluate patients for the risk or existence of adrenal suppression.
Diclofenac is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). NSAIDs may cause increased risk of cardiovascular events, such as heart attack and stroke, as well as serious gastrointestinal damage, including bleeding, ulceration, and fatal perforation of the stomach and intestines. This hidden drug ingredient may also interact with other medications and significantly increase the risk of adverse events, particularly when consumers use multiple NSAID-containing products.
Thus spake the FDA. Because these ingredients were undisclosed they were unknown and unkowable to myself or the general public. I did take some UMOVY to be able to report on it to Stop My Pain Now members and found that 1. it was effective ins stopping my pain and 2. I noticed no side effects. I told you guys about it at the time. Several members have used UMOVY for some months now and have reported to ill effects but that it was effective in reducing or eliminating their pain.
At that time when I introduced UMOVY to you I was very careful to insist that folks who tried UMOVY should carefully monitor themselves as the introduction of any new medicament could potentially cause an adverse reaction. I previously said the same thing about UMARY.
Because PayPal, with good reason, is fearful of being sued, when they saw UMARY and UMOVY on the website they freaked out and closed my accounts. I don’t think that this was a proper thing for them to do as I am not, strictly speaking, selling these products, I am offering a membership in a Private Membership Association whose members have access to these products.
A Private Membership Association (PMA) is a legal entity which allows its members to operate outside of control by Public entities (provided no criminal activity is happening) such as government agencies. For example, it is a public law that being naked in public is illegal. But if you join a nudist club you can walk around in the buff all day long within the boundaries of the club. (I have seen myself in the mirror, I would never want the sun to see what I see, much less strangers!) The activities within the PMA are not subject to control by Public entities operating under Public Law.
I notice two things about this latest eruption by the FDA: 1. The product is not made illegal, the public is notified that a product contains undisclosed ingredients with potential side effects, “Note: This notification is to inform the public of products potentially marketed as dietary supplements or conventional foods with hidden drug ingredients and chemicals . . . Consumers should exercise caution before purchasing any product in the above categories.” (from the FDA website cited above)
2. The FDA WARNS and ADVISES about the presence of these undisclosed ingredients but does not provide quantitative data on how much of what was found. This prevents the public from making fully informed decisions about their use.
Yes, this is the same FDA that was fully onboard with and assiduously promoted the Covid-19 vaxx as safe and effective. Strange how there are no credibility issues.
